Handling Ambiguity

Ambiguous addresses cause return mail. This example has three solutions as shown by the image's arrow cursor. Note the "1 of 3" pointed to by the arrow.

It is doubtful that the original address would be delivered. The prototype did not replace the address because of the ambiguity.

Existing Applications
The user should be warned that the address is ambiguous and have access to address choices. The prototype uses <UP-ARROW> <DOWN-ARROW> to see address options.

The Mail*SERVE address quality flags and USPS standard DPV validation footnotes are available to the user to help make the correct choice. If address validation occurs with direct access to the recipient, there should be almost no possibility of failure.
