Mailing List Import / Export

Mailroom projects can have any number of mailing lists. Mailing lists are imported and exported from fixed-field, delimited-field or dBASE files. Address management, PAVE presort preparation, CASS certification and DPV delivery point validation is performed on mailing lists.

Mail Automation Demonstration: Step One - IMPORT LIST

Mailing list processing starts by importing addresses using the control block below. The control block reads:

"Import List" naming it "February_2007_Promotion", starting with record number "1" and stopping at record number "9999999" or until end of file, loading mailing list addresses according to User-defined File Definition "import_promo.MSD", reading source file "C:\Data\February_2007_Promotion\February_2007_Promotion.dat".

Once a mailing list has been chosen or the mailing list name has been set for a list that is to be imported, the LISTS tab assumes the mailing list's name. Newly imported mailing lists must have initial CASS certification and DPV validation before any other action can be taken.

Import/Export Operation Phrase - Mailing list operations include:

Import List - Creates a new mailing list by reading an external file

Add to List - Adds addresses to an existing mailing list

Export List - Creates an external file from a project's mailing list

Export Plus- "Export List" using User-defined Selection Criterion to filter addresses

Import and Export Test - Inspection of how external files will be interpreted or created

Import PAVE - Imports a list of ZIP-codes and carrier routes for bulk mail presort preparation
