Address Enhancement Mailing Software
Mail*LIST mailing software uses CASS™ validation and DPV® confirmation warnings assigned during batch CASS processing to identify high-risk addresses that Mail*STAR can help improve before mailing through a process of address enhancement. Mailing software address quality details include:
- Match Status - Addresses are given match status codes during CASS processing. Mail*LIST uses address match status to help the mailer increase CASS validation percentages maximizing postal discounts and further reducing undeliverable return mail.
- Address Quality Flags - Mailing software assigns address quality flags reporting conditions of CASS validation. For example, “D” is the flag indicating that an address matched a ZIP+4™ default range lacking unit number validation. Although CASS processed, address enhancement improves quality.
- DPV Delivery Point Confirmation - The DPV process determines if the CASS processed address is identified as a Postal Service™ delivery point detecting vacancies and other addressing issues assigning DPV codes used to select problem addresses for enhancement.
Step Three - Mailing Software Address List Enhancement
The Mail*LIST CASS tab provides the list-box shown above reporting the status codes assigned to addresses during initial batch CASS validation and DPV confirmation.
Status codes that have one to four asterisks, “*”, were matched to ZIP+4 records, the number of asterisks reporting the degree of DPV confirmation.
• **** DPV confirmed both primary and secondary numbers
• *** DPV confirmed where secondary number is missing or invalid
• ** DPV not confirmed
• * Addresses matched to a ZIP+4 range indicating not deliverable
All other status codes indicate the address was not ZIP+4 matched and why. For example, “NSN” indicates, "No Such Number" and “PNE”, "Primary Clue Not Encountered" when street name clues are not matched.
Selection Criteria List-Box Options:
- Address status requires selection of a status code from a list-box reporting groups of addresses by status and the number of addresses in the group.
-
Client key, Recipient name, First name and Last name require exact or inexact clues allowing SQL wildcards, {"%","_"}.
-
OEL Sequenced selects all mail pieces in presort order showing the Optional Endorsement Line, tray or sack number, group number and sequence number in the tray or sack.
