Street Address Lookup
CASS™ Standardize and DPV®Confirm

USPS® street lookup provides fields for postal street name and door number. These fields and all previous tab clues are used to limit postal street lookup candidates.

The postal street address context is "MONTGOMERY AL", having street door number 199, and the street name clue is "SOUTH A%" interpreted by the address painter as pre-directional 'S' and a postal street name beginning with 'A'.

The special character '%' is used by the painter as a wildcard.

CASS Standardize and DPV Confirm Street Address

The message line guides the user to a single CASS standardized DPV confirmed postal street address. The user can either click a street lookup candidate or add information to the street lookup clue reducing street candidates

Painter address solutions are echoed to the Mail*STAR CASS block where the CASS standardized address can be used to update the address list or print an envelope with USPS Intelligent Mail® or POSTNET™ barcode.

Street Lookup Window

The street lookup window lists candidate street pre-directional, name, suffix, post directional and absolute integer and alphanumeric ZIP+4™ door number ranges. The ZIP Code column includes the five-digit ZIP Code and will include the ZIP+4 add-on if a range match was made.

There are two flags to the far right in red. The 'H' flag is marked when the street has USPS high-rise records. The 'A' flag is marked when high-rise alternate records exist for the postal street. ‹Right-click› on a street candidate row opens the ZIP+4 range window showing all ZIP+4 door number ranges for the clicked street.

Street Lookup Context

If postal ZIP Code is specified, candidates are limited to the single ZIP™. Otherwise, the scope of the search is every ZIP Code in the established city as well as any ZIP Code in proximity to the city as determined by the USPS finance number. In Puerto Rico, urbanization is also included in street lookup address context. Context includes:

  • Name Clue: This field is not live requiring ‹ENTER›  before updating the street list. The clue field uses literal, phonetic or wildcard lookups on street name tokens or full street names.
  • Door Number Clue: The field is not live requiring ‹ENTER›  before updating the street list. Street door number reduces the street candidate list.

Alternate High-Rise

When a street row has been selected that has alternate high-rise records associated with it, a button appears that when ‹clicked› reports the alternate location and permits the user to automatically reference the high-rise alternate record.
