Step Two: Address Matching Software
Bulk Mail Automation - Postage Discounts
Step two focuses on qualifying for and benefiting from USPS® mail automation using CASS Certified™ address matching software. If the address database has been processed by postal software in compliance with annual USPS CASS™ certification, this step may not be required. Unlike steps one and three, this step is performed only once.
AES Postal Software Includes
• Annual USPS CASS certification of address matching software
• DPV® delivery point confirmation assuring deliverability
• Bulk Mail Presort - Mail automation bulk-mail preparation
Postal Software CASS Certification - Address Matching
AES believes in zero tolerance for broken addresses. To achieve this goal, we have established and proven the following procedure for USPS CASS address matching and standardization.
- Batch CASS Address Matching - Batch CASS processing only accepts addresses with the highest address matching reliability. Although USPS CASS certification requires 98.5% accuracy, AES targets 99.9% batch CASS accuracy.
- Interactive CASS Address Matching - CASS processing requires some address issues not be corrected in batch. Most addresses rejected in batch can be resolved interactively with address matching software.
Postal Software Address Enhancement - Address Quality
Batch address matching and DPV delivery point confirmation saves address quality information that identifies addresses at risk. Status codes, address quality flags and DPV delivery point confirmation codes are used by Mail*LIST to select addresses for address enhancement. Mail*LIST Address Enhancement.
Postal Software Mail Automation - Requirements
- Mail*LIST generates the USPS PS-3553, bulk-mail presort Qualification Report and Postage Summary reporting number of pieces per mail rate and total postage due.
- Mail pieces are presented to the USPS in one or two-foot trays or sacks as directed by the USPS Qualification Report. Trays and sacks require bar-coded labels created by Mail*LIST.
Postal Software Bulk Mail Presort Preparation
When Mail*LIST is used to prepare labels or envelopes from an address list, all USPS bulk-mail preparation requirements are met by this application. This option is practical when all mail pieces are the same such as promotions, newsletters, etc. Refer to the Mail*LIST USPS Bulk Mail Automation Demonstration.
