Enhanced Address Quality CASS Certified™ Software

Mail*STAR postal software can be used standalone for USPS® CASS™ verification and DPV® delivery point confirmation of single addresses. This page shows Mail*STAR CASS verification and DPV address confirmation of single addresses.

When Mail*STAR is accessed by Mail-LIST for CASS processing of address lists, the screen includes a read/only data window for input address elements and USPS CASS validated results, address quality flags and DPV delivery point confirmation status. Mail*STAR CASS/DPV Processing of Address Lists

Data Entry Block

Mail*STAR postal software accepts input addresses typed into the data entry block or pasted from a clipboard. The “certify” icon CASS standardizes and delivery point confirms the input address. The data entry block supports free format address data meaning that there are no predefined address lines and fields.

CASS Address Block

Mail*STAR postal software reports USPS CASS verification candidate record(s) in this read/only window. If multiple CASS candidate records are available, they are ordered by address quality. Mail*STAR postal software expresses address quality and reliability using a color-coded address quality bar.

Mail*STAR postal software address quality flags report edits required for validation. USPS Standardized DPV footnotes report on deliverability. In this example, there are two "TIED" USPS CASS standardized addresses. When multiple candidate records exist, ‹up-arrow› and ‹down-arrow›  scroll through the list.

Color-coded Address Quality Reliability Bar: The bar indicates that the reliability of the displayed USPS CASS standardized candidate is "85" reflecting the non-standard street suffix, misspelled street name, missing street directional and input state name "ALABAMA" instead of USPS standard state-code "AL".

DPV Delivery Point Confirmation Footnotes: USPS standardized DPV footnotes are displayed right justified below the reliability bar. In this example, "AAM3", indicates that although the address is CASS standardized it is not DPV confirmed. If the address were DPV confirmed, the code "AABB" would appear in green

CASS Address Detail: The carrier route and USPS ZIP+4™ delivery point barcode value is displayed in black. The complete twelve digit postal barcode appearing here in human readable form is shown using the USPS POSTNET™ barcode font in the Export page.

Mail*STAR Address Quality Flags: The address type and any address quality flags are shown in the lower right hand corner in red. The 'S' indicates this is a street address, the 'O' indicates an orthographic change "ARNOLDS" -> "ARNOLD" and the 'E' flag reports the directional element 'N' was added.
